Nelson Community Based Research Presentation: Toolkit for Short-Term Rentals
Date and time:
October 30, 2012 - 4:00pm - 5:30pm
Location:
Saint Anthony Park Community Council Office
890 Cromwell Ave
St. Paul, MN 55114 (one block northeast of University and Hwy 280 - map)
This summer, Saint Anthony Park Community Council partnered with the Starling Project to rent a vacant storefront on University Ave, making it available for rentals of one to four weeks. Eight individuals and groups--primarily artists and others with a creative idea or project to share--rented the Saint Anthony Park Pop-Up Shop over the course of the summer. Short-term rentals have been a tool used by businesses and entrepreneurs in Mpls-St. Paul and other cities, as well.
Come learn about short-term rentals, how they can help transform a vacant storefront in your neighborhood, and what to think about as you plan. Starling and Saint Anthony Park Community Council, with support from CURA and the Central Corridor Funders Collaborative, have produced a toolkit with strategies, tools, and tips for organizations and individuals interested in short-term rentals. They will share this toolkit and lessons learned from the summer Pop-Up Shop and other short-term rentals on University Ave at a free workshop on Oct 30. After that, the toolkit will be available on Starling's website.
