Ancestry Books

Ancestry Books

Chaun Webster and Verna Wong of Ancestry Books plan to make their store not only a bookstore but also a neighborhood hub and gathering space.

Chaun Webster, an artist and Northside resident specializing in poetry, publishing, and teaching, is developing a pop-up bookstore located at the intersection of Penn and Lowry Avenues in North Minneapolis. Designed to be less about commerce and more than just a bookstore, Ancestry Books will become a third place gathering space in the heart of the neighborhood, serving as a space for community building, organizing, and building power. Along with its one-of-a-kind inventory of books, Ancestry Books will also host a series of talks, performances, and installations focusing on re-centering the narratives of indigenous communities and communities of color.
