Community Asset Mapping Program

HCTPC plans to develop a coordinated system to serve all pregnant and parenting teens and their children, but to do so we need to determine how to distribute finite resources so we can be both efficient and effective. We have knowledge of best practices for work with this population. But we currently do not have a good handle on where all the resources are and which organizations are offering best practices services. We believe that there are many services that exist in the county, particularly in the southern and western suburbs, of which we are unaware. We are asking for assistance from a student to conduct an environmental scan to bring in the needed information. This information on what services are offered, to whom, and where, will be collected from the organizations and entered on a spreadsheet. If possible, we would also like the student to develop a community asset map indicating where each type of best practices services are located to enable us to visually determine gaps in particular service types.
