Healthy Neighborhood, Fresh Food Initiative

Sparc is a neighborhood-based community development corporation. The Association for the Advancement of Hmong Women of Minnesota is a mutual assistance organization dedicated to empowering Hmong women and girls to lead their communities. Community Table Cooperative is an initiative that is working to develop neighborhood-level sustainable food system pilot projects. The urban farm pilot project was developed to meet three identified goals of North End community members: provide opportunities for income-generating activity, improve access to fresh produce, and preserve space for outdoor learning. Area residents were involved as agro-entrepreneurs, buyers, and community coordinators in creating an urban farm. The project increased access to fresh produce, cultivated new leadership, and provided economic development opportunities.
